![]() ![]() Besides, Enderal was released two years ago. (I think I can say that:) And recently (like two months ago) we had a couple of questions regarding some stuff concerning Enderal and Matt Grandstaff had a chat with us. We are pretty cool with Bethesda and they are cool with us, they even gave us a shout out before the Game Awards in 2016 and send us a little present. What if one day Bethesda somehow manages to take down this project and SureAI can't legally release an offline installer anymore? All very unlikely, sure. It will contain the newest version of the Enderal Launcher and an up-to-date installation package, including all Patches and all initial Forgotten Stories files.Īnd once we stop supporting and patching Enderal (+ Forgotten Stories), we will create another updated installation package.Įdit: Wording and I just saw your latest comment regarding Bethesda and licensing: The installation package will be updated once the Forgotten Stories DLC is released. Sure, it would have been the best to update the initial installation package after every successful patch, but to do that we are just lacking man power + who ever does that job after every patch hates his life afterwards. We just barely saved it by pulling some all-nighters and releasing a hotfix. And some files should never get accidentally placed in a vanilla installation, it could break the whole game / savegames for so many users - We had such a case once, because a crucial FS file got into a normal update for vanilla Enderal and got initialized. and that on a daily cycle (pun intended). It would mean tons of extra work for us creating a new installation package because the developer version is changing continuously: files or code get moved around / new arranged, new files are added, old ones deleted etc. We are not withholding anything for fun or something like that. I just see no benefits to withholding this, and at least a few benefits to allowing an offline installation. However this will only happen once we've finished the development of Forgotten Stories and a second one when we stop supporting and patching Enderal completely (as it has been for the other TCs we released so far). To get back to your question, of course we will release an updated installation package that will contain all necessary files that one needs to install and play Enderal. It would be a huge coincidence if every backup would get lost simultaneously. Also, a part of the team is still active and there are multiple backups (on our own servers, cloud and local backups etc). Maybe because our website was down for a day and we didn't announce it? I usually post about this kind of stuff on social media, but I was on vacation and didn't knew that the server provider wanted to take our servers offline for maintenance. No offense, but I don't see where this statement is coming from. Your game is at risk of being lost forever. It's one of the very few games of its genre that left a remarkable impression on me and I would hate to see it lost for future gamers. However unlikely this might be, I just see no benefits to withholding this, and at least a few benefits to allowing an offline installation. Something might go wrong with the update servers and the backups. ![]() You still put in effort today and fix bugs, yet you keep risking that work being lost. One day for one reason or another, your servers will go down and no matter how many people still share the initial zip file, it is unusable without the launcher being able to connect to your servers.Īnd even if the zip works on its own eventually, that copy of the game would still be missing all of the patches you ever released for it. You said that this might come at a later point in time. Hello r/Enderal and developers of Enderal,Īfter Enderal was released, I asked if there is a way to download the game once and install it without an internet connection.
